Shareholder John Thies Elected Urbana Free Library Board President

After serving for two years on the Urbana Free Library Board of Trustees, Shareholder John Thies has been elected president of the board. Trustees are appointed by the Mayor and are confirmed by the City Council. They serve three-year alternating terms. The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall operations and service of The Urbana Free Library, including budget, policy, and planning. The Urbana Free Library, founded in 1874, is the public library of the City of Urbana. The library serves over 12,000 cardholders with a collection of more than 450,000 pieces.
