Our Historic Roots at Lincoln Square

Sep 9, 2024 | News

With our firm’s move from Urbana to Champaign, many in the community are reminiscing about our historic roots at Lincoln Square Mall. On Saturday, September 7 a front-page opinion piece was published in the News-Gazette sharing the story of our firm’s integral relationship with Lincoln Square Mall and its founding.

The grandfather of Shareholders David Thies and John Thies, Charles Webber, founded the firm in 1946 and was instrumental in the development of Lincoln Square, where the firm was an original tenant. Of their grandfather, David said, “He was a forward thinker. If you knew what downtown Urbana looked like before he dreamed, he was dreaming what is there now. And eventually, that had to change. Change is inevitable. And [of our move] I think he’d say, ‘You guys are doing exactly the right thing.’”
