Urbana Free Library Board Passes Resolution to Thank John Thies

After four years of service on the Urbana Free Library Board of Trustees, Shareholder John Thies was formally recognized and thanked through Resolution No. 2022-09 on June 14, 2022. John was appointed by the Mayor of Urbana as a Trustee of the Library Board in 2018 and then elected President of the Board in November 2020.

John served as President during the tumultuous months of the pandemic, but was still able to move forward and accomplish the:

  • Adoption of a Strategic Planning Process
  • Commencement of a building program
  • Creative outreach to the community with new services, like curbside pickup, the Seed Lending Library, fine-free lending, and e-library cards
